ABOUT STEVE PEZMAN
Steve Pezman was born in Los Angeles in 1941, at the age of 17 he was hooked on surfing... a regular at various Orange County breaks. Following stints as a lifeguard, board builder and sailor, Steve started writing for various surf publications in the mid-sixties. By 1969 he was editor of Surfer and a short 6 months later was promoted to publisher where he remained until 1991.
As if his role in surf media hadn't been influential enough, Steve and his wife Debbee then went on to establish The Surfer's Journal. Since its inception in 1992 TSJ has been celebrated as the home of cerebral long form surf journalism. 30 years later TSJ is one of the few print surf magazine which has survived the internet age, with the Pezman family still firmly at the helm.
