BLUETiFUL is a super colourful book of photographs devoted to "smiles, snow, and a little boarding". From cover to cover it is a testament to the fun, passion and devotion of the Japanese backcountry snowboard scene told through the images of Neil Hartmann.
ABOUT NEIL HARTMANN
We first became aware of Neil Hartmann through his Car Danchi series of Snowboard Movies; idiosyncratic docu-style films following a crew of Japanese snowboarders spending winters living in their cars and riding together. As we have delved deeper into the snowsurfing folklore of Hokkaido, Japan's northern island, it became apparent that Neil has been a mainstay of the scene since the early 90s. Originally from San Diego, Neil is now fully entrenched in Hokkaido mountain life, running a Soft Serve Ice Cream shop with his wife & daughters on the outskirts of Sapporo. And of course still devoted to documenting the snowboard culture of Japan by any means necessary; camera, film, words, whatever it takes.
